Breakfast Club and School Meals

School Meals

The Academy of Woodlands prides itself on our school meals -  using fresh produce, sourced locally where possible and cooked within our own kitchens. All our meals are designed with our pupils  in mind;  having a healthy, nutritionally balanced meal is key to children's  wellbeing. Special dietary requirements are also catered for.
All meals are served with a choice of water or milk.

The Academy of Woodlands is a 'nut free' zone - due to some children's allergies. No nut products are used in any of the meals that are made in our kitchen.

School dinner's cost £2.10 a day and must be booked on a weekly or termly basis. Please follow the link below to book:

Breakfast Club

The Academy of Woodlands run a breakfast club for all it's pupils. It runs Monday - Friday between 8am and 8.30am in our dining hall, accessed from the main playground. This is free to all our pupils and families.

We aim to provide a nutritional breakfast for our pupils, siblings and parents. Our breakfast includes cereals with milk, toast and fruit - there is also milk and/or water to drink; we provide tea and coffee for parents too.

We encourage our pupils to be independant by serving themselves and sitting with their family to enjoy breakfast together. After the pupils have eaten breakfast, there are a seletion of games for the pupils to play with their friends - again encouraging the social interaction amongst pupils and parents alike.

We look forward to welcoming you soon.

Universal Free School Meals and Free School Meals

From September 2014 all children who are in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 in a state-funded school will be offered a free healthy school lunch.  Children in other school years will also be offered a free school lunch if their parent is receiving any of the welfare benefits listed below:

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support from NASS (National Asylum Support Service) under part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guarantee element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (with no Working Tax Credit) with an annual income of no more than £16,190
  • Working Tax Credit run-on
  • Universal Credit - In England, if you apply on or after 1st April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get). If your child is currently eligible for free school meals, they'll remain eligible until they finish the phase of schooling; they're in on 31st March 2022.

Registering could raise money for your child’s school. Registering for free meals could raise an extra £1,300 for your child’s school, to fund valuable support like extra tuition, additional teaching staff or after school activities.

This additional money is available from central government for every child whose parent is receiving one of the welfare benefits listed above. It is therefore important to sign up for free school meals, even if your child is in reception, year 1 or year 2, so that your child’s school receives as much funding as possible.

If you would like to check your entitlement to Free School Meals, please print off the an application form or collect one from the school office - complete the form and return to the school office; we will then inform you of the outcome.
