Our high-quality languages education in KS2, will foster our pupils’ curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world. In the early stages of language learning, children will spend much of their time listening and speaking. Later on, children will be encouraged to develop reading and writing skills, which will be supported by, and reinforce, the development of oracy. Throughout the MFL curriculum, children will be taught to listen attentively to spoken language and show understanding by joining in and responding. Children will develop accurate pronunciation and intonation and describe people, places, things and actions orally and in writing. They will also be taught to understand basic grammar.

Our teaching will provide our pupils the foundation for developing their language skills further in Key Stage Three.
