Updated COVID Guidance

Welcome back to School for Term 3. I hope that you have all managed to have some kind of time with your families despite the current COVID climate. Below is the current information regarding self-isolation for children who actually have COVID and also the requirement for children awaiting a PCR result who are symptom free. If you need further clarification, please email the school office on school.office@aow.uk.com.

All adults on site should wear a mask when dropping off and collecting pupils Where at all possible please telephone or email the office with queries rather than coming in to the building.

Info from the DFE is as follows:

Individuals may now take LFD tests on day 6 and day 7 of their self-isolation period. Those who receive two negative test results are no longer required to complete 10 full days of self-isolation. The first test must be taken no earlier than day 6 of the self-isolation period and tests must be taken 24 hours apart. This also applies to children under 5, with LFD testing at parental or guardian discretion. If both these test results are negative, and you do not have a high temperature, you may end your self-isolation after the second negative test result and return to your education setting from day 8.

All children aged between 5 and 18 years and 6 months and are identified as a close contact with someone with COVID should take a lateral flow test every day for 7 days and continue to attend their setting as normal.  If you decide to also get them a PCR test whilst having no symptoms, they are allowed to be in school whilst waiting for that result.

If your child has symptoms, they need to remain at home, this is also the case following any positive lateral flow test, and await their official PCR results. Please do not send children with symptoms to school, children who develop symptoms in school will be sent home and asked to get a PCR test and show a negative result before returning to school.

Many thanks for continuing to work with us to keep pupils and their families and staff as safe as possible

Kind regards
Anne Viney
